The League of American Orchestras’ Midwinter Managers Meeting, an intensive two-day event designed for executive directors and youth orchestra administrators of League-member orchestras, takes place in Detroit on Sunday-Monday, January 28-29, 2024. The Midwinter Managers Meeting provides a terrific opportunity to connect with fellow orchestra leaders to share ideas and learn with robust discussions, practical presentations, and generative thinking tailored to the unique needs of each constituency group. Midwinter will be held at DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Detroit Downtown–Fort Shelby.

Preceding Midwinter, orchestra leaders can take advantage of additional learning and networking opportunities at Sphinx’s Annual Convening, January 24-27. It begins with the Sphinx Orchestral Partners Auditions, followed by SphinxConnect, an annual gathering focused on diversity and inclusion in classical music. The event will culminate with the Finals of the National Sphinx Competition for Young Black and Latinx string musicians.

On Sunday, January 28 from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., the League offers “Organizational Resiliency in Times of Change,” a Midwinter Seminar led by Arts Consulting Group. The seminar is open to everyone, and available to Sphinx registrants for a discounted fee.

Attend both the Midwinter Managers Meeting and SphinxConnect, and you’ll receive a 10% discount off your Midwinter registration by signing up for SphinxConnect now.
